Step 2: Start Date of JULY 7, 2007. The San Diego Welcome Back Center is excited to announce the successful institutionalization of the USMLE Step 1 Review Course; for ONLY $20 a unit! Stanford University representative Fred Tovar will be visiting Miramar College and City College here in San Diego this month to discuss their Physician Assistant Program. Many of you have shown interest in this wonderful flexible program that allows you to complete requirements in San Diego and at Stanford University.   Accelerated RN (WB IV) Informational Forum: (posted 05.05.07)
DATE: May 18th, 2007. This informational forum will be our second meeting in support of our fourth cohort (WB IV)seeking our Accelerated Registered Nurse Program (ARNP) designed for International Healthcare Workers (IHCWs)living in California and projected to start during Spring 2008.At this meeting, we will present and discuss an overview of the 14-month program, the selection process for IHCWs and transitional steps into the California Healthcare system. Program requirements and information about the academic counseling we provide will be given. This is an excellent opportunity to meet the Welcome Back Center staff involved in this program, access literature and

Occupational English (Summer 2007) : (posted 05.05.07)
START DATE: May 21st, 2007. This FREE six (6) week course held from May 21st to June 25th on Monday's & Wednesday's from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. is custom-designed for all levels of health care. Participants are English Second Language (ESL) students who will learn the basic medical vocabulary and communication skills necessary to perform a job in the health care field. This course is interactive and will be taught in English at the GROSSMONT HEALTH OCCUPATIONS Center. If you are interested in this course please call us at 619.409.6417 to register. NCLEX Review (Summer 2007) : (posted 05.02.07)
DATE: July 7th, 2007 through September 16th 2007.
Sign-up now for an intensive TEN-week NCLEX Review course for either NCLEX-RN or NCLEX-PN. Registrations are being accepted for the Summer Course to be held July 7th 2007 through September 16th 2007. The course will be offered every Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It includes review of topics such as medical-surgical and Pediatrics. It also includes one-to-one guidance, test-taking and anxiety-relief strategies. Computer lab time for test practice will be incorporated along with an NCLEX predictor exam to determine the readiness of the student. The cost is $375.00. In order to be eligible to attend this class, you need to have eligibility and/or Authority to Test letter prior to the start of the class from the BRN or BVNPT.

Course Description: Various types of health delivery systems are examined, including the hospital, health maintenance organizations, and managed care systems. Formal organizations and informal dynamics are reviewed. Particular attention is directed to the role of the manager in the communications, protocol, and decision-making process. NYCOM Emigre Physician Program
The New York College of Osteopathic Medicne (NYCOM), New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), will be offering three regional presentations on the Emigre Physician Program (EPP) during the month of October.. Please plan to attend one of the sessions listed in the attachment.

The Emigre Physician Program is designed for International Medical Graduatres (IMGs), and it offers a four year program which encompasses a Biomedical Science component in years 1 and 2 and a Clinical Clerkship component in years 3 and 4. Acceptance into the Emigre Physician Program is selective and competitive. NYCOM acceptes 35 candidates every year into the program, who are chosen based upon academic excellence, in-person interview and performance on NYCOM's Pre-Admission Comprehensive Examination. Nurse Refresher/Re-entry program: SPRING 2006
START DATE January 17, 2006. If you are a NURSE who is LICENSED in the US (passed the NCLEX) but feel you need a refresher before entering the hospital environment, please CLICK HERE to download a flyer or contact the Welcome Back Center to find out about a 15-week program designed to prepare you to work in the Hospital. REGISTRATION starts December 6th, 2005. Mandatory Orientation: January 13, 2006, 9:00-11:00 a.m. CEUs will be available for RNs and LVNs who are currently licensed upon request.

 

NBDE Review Course for Dentists Fall 2007
DATES: October 10th - December 8th, 2007. For the first time, Grossmont College will be offering an eight week National Board Dental Examination (NBDE), Part I, Basic Sciences review course for International Dentists during the Fall semester and starting on October 10 and ending on December 8, 2007. After successfully passing NBDE licensure exams, participants will have the opportunity to apply to a two year Advance Standing Program at the University of Southern California (USC), Loma Linda University, University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), University of California San Francisco (UCSF), University of the Pacific, and La Salle University in Leon Guanajuato, Mexico, to access Dental Licensure in California. International Health Worker Day (posted 07.26.07)
The Welcome Back Center has worked with local elected officials to establish the FIRST "International Health Worker Day" that will be held on October 20, 2007. The Welcome Back Center is excited to announce the USMLE review courses will be held at UCSD. The courses are MORE comprehensive then ever! We have added 48 hours of review, and have access to the UCSD resources! Classes start as early as SEPTEMBER 29th!
